First You Need a Reader
ByNow, I talked about “reader” briefly before……… As in I am COMPLETELY buried in “reader” material every time I log in.
How many of you are buried with incoming emails? Why not cut down your email load and “subscribe” to feeds from various websites rather than be on their mailing list? If you are new to emailing customers, having your own mailing lists, etc. I recommend you subscribe to some so you know what to write yourself, but that’s a whole different subject.
Using RSS kinda goes with having a website, or being a beginner blogger. You need to know what others are doing and understand writing styles that you like. You also need to know what is “hot” and what other industries are doing.
So……. Start slowly……… Here is a post that had a really complete list of readers I thought I would give you the link to: http://blogspace.com/rss/readers
Now, a word about readers….. I prefer Feedburner because it has so many applications that sync with your blog/website etc. so I recommend it if you don’t have one set up already…….. A person can handle only so many passwords for different apps, if you can combine several things with one login I strongly recommend it. Where my Feedburner login is I can also see my Google Analytic s, Webmaster tools, Calendar, Mail, etc.
I implore you to do the tutorials when you sign up of you WILL be googling help on how to operate things. I know I did!! I thought a lot of it was self explanatory and it wasn’t, I couldn’t even figure out how to get IN my INBOX!! I could see all kinds of other stuff on suggested subscribing lists and whatnot but I couldn’t find my inbox. Took me a few days of half hearted tries.
So start your relationship with your RSS reader better than I did……..
